Our Under 13 Panthers made it a double winning the Letchworth 6-a-side tournament on 3 June and the Buntingford 5-a-side tournament on 10 June. Remarkably, three of four semi-finalists at Buntingford were Hitchin sides.
U7 Nitros went undefeated at the Buntingford and Wisbech St Mary tournaments.
U11 Harriers made the final of the Buntingford tournament, going down 1-0 to the hosts.
U12 AC, our team entering the EJA League next season, have reached two consecutive finals at the Wisbech and Milton Keynes tournaments, losing to a strong Peterborough side in the former and being beaten on penalties by Leighton Buzzard in the latter.
Athletico are enjoying their first season in the Mid Herts set up, winning 14 and drawing 2 of their 18 league games.
We wish the team all the best in the final and hope they bring the cup back up the A10!]]>
To reach the final, Panthers have overcome teams from Watford, Chorleywood, Ware and Bishops Stortford.
Nick Carr, the Panthers’ manager said:
“I’m really proud of all of the boys in reaching the County Cup final in their first season together. They’ve shown incredible teamwork and tenacity in getting this far and played some delightful football. Whatever the result on Sunday I hope the boys enjoy the experience.”
We wish the boys luck in the final. They have been fantastic ambassadors for the club.]]>
The morning tournament featured 12 teams, with visiting sides including those from Letchworth, Stevenage, Baldock and our local rivals FC Comets. The teams were divided into two groups of six with the top two qualifying for the semi-finals. Hitchin Anacondas topped Group B and then faced off against Baldock Cruisers in the semi, coming away with a 1-0 win. It was an all Letchworth affair in the other last four game with Letchworth Blues, winners of Group A, toppling Letchworth Reds.
The final was a nervy affair with Hitchin taking an early lead but Letchworth grabbing an equaliser. Hitchin nearly snatched it in the dying moments when a shot cannoned back off the crossbar but ultimately neither team could break the deadlock – and so to penalties. The Hitchin boys kept their composure and came away 4-2 winners.

The afternoon featured teams from Eaton Socon, Bishops Stortford, Hatfield, Ware, Arlesey and Bedwell and followed the same format. It was tense in both groups where the two Hitchin teams needed wins in their last games to qualify for the semis; we were delighted when both came through. Both semis featured match ups between teams from the same club. It was Bishops Stortford Whites v Blues in one game and Hitchin Cobras v Pythons in the other, both games finishing 1-0.
So, Hitchin Cobras, featuring Lucas, Arbnor, Stanley, Harry, Jacob, Ryan and Rafi, faced Bishops Stortford Whites in the final. It was a very even game with the scores locked at 0-0 at half-time. Hitchin came out of the blocks fast in the second half and grabbed two goals in close succession to take the trophy. The club has had great feedback on the success of the tournament and the boys had a great day. We’d like to express our gratitude to the parents who acted as an organising committee, especially Susan, Gemma, Marco and Leisa and to our age group sponsors Wates Construction, HRJ Foreman Laws and Boardpad. We also wanted to say a massive thank you to Lucas Kirkpatrick for coming down to support us and presenting the trophy in the morning.]]>
